Fourth Annual Oyster Festival
On Saturday, September 15th, the Irish Times Pub in Brookfield will host its Fourth Annual Oyster Festival. The event will start at 2 p.m. (one hour earlier from previous years) with music by The Dan Hamilton Trio.
There will be plenty of Oysters, Smoked Salmon, Mussels, Shrimp Cocktail, and Clam Chowder along with our Traditional Irish Fare available from the regular menu. Ask your server about drink specials for the day.
Be sure to meet The 2007 Oyster Queen and sample a complimentary 'Pony of Guinness' while you are there. Come and enjoy a fabulous day in either the Main Bar, Cottage or Beer Garden. There is no cover charge.
Last, but not least, tell your friends about the Update Newsletter so that they can find out when the pictures from this event will be posted online. If your group or family comes out to join us and you want a souvenir picture to download from the website, then just ask for Marc after you order your food.
Third Annual Oktoberfest
On Sunday, September 30th (the day before October) the Irish Times Pub in Brookfield will host is very own Third Annual Oktoberfest. The event will start at 3 p.m. with no cover charge.
The menu will include Brats, German Potato Salad, and Sauerkraut along with the regular menu also available. Do not forget to try one or all of the Four Oktoberfest Beers on tap. Classic Oktoberfest style music will be conducted by The Bill Smrha Polka Band from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
September Live Jazz Event
The next Live Jazz Event for the Brookfield Jazz Society will be on Thursday, September 20th featuring the music of the Joel Moore Quartet. The event will be held in the Cottage, adjacent to the first beer garden, with the door opening at 6 p.m., meeting start at 7 p.m. and music starting at 7:30 p.m.
There is no cover charge for this event; however, the Society does recommend a $5 donation for the band collection. Of course, larger donations are always welcome and everyone is free to participate in the raffle. The money from the band collection and raffle are given to the band on the night.
A word of thanks goes out to Le Grand Decor and the Salt Creek Wine Bar for their generous donations that were used in the raffle during the July Live Jazz Event. Congratulations to the winners of the set of candles, gift cards, and exquisite bottle of wine.
Monthly Genealogy Meeting
Join Lou Yore on the Second Sunday of the month to learn about your heritage via the Irish Times Genealogy Project. The next meeting will be held on Sunday, September 9th at 2 p.m. in the Cosgrave Room which, non-smoking section adjacent to the main bar.
